SLPL 2011, the modified version of Domestic interprovincial T20 championship in Sri Lanka all set to starts its season on July 19th at Colombo Premadasa stadium. The tournament is in between Seven teams namely Wayamba Wolves, Basnahira Bears, Kandurata Kites, Nagenahira Nagas, Ruhuna Rhinos, Uva Unicorns, Uthura Oryxes representing seven provinces of Sri Lanka. The first Match is in between Basnahira Bears and
Kandurata Kites.
What is special about the SLPL T20 2011 tournament this year from the previous versions is the presence of 25 plus foreign players in the league. There will be 16-18 players in a team consisting at most 5 foreign players, but in match only 4 of them and others are Sri Lankan players including an under 21 cricketer. Many players from many countries has extended their hand towards the tournament including India, but BCCI has decided not to send Indian Players, as BCCI doubts the hands of Lalit Mody who has accused in a IPL corruption related case behind SLPL 2011, though Sri Lankan Cricket Board has denied the matter. Thus 12 Indian Cricketers loses their opportunity to be in Sri Lankan Premier League. Shoib Akthar of Pakistan had decided to join the SLPL T20 tournament, but later he pulled him self out due to personal reasons.

New Zealand: Daniel Vettori
Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hassan, Shaiful Islam, Muhammed Ashraful
Ireland: Kevin O'Brien
Afridi will Play for Nagenahira Nagas and Daniel Vettory will play for Uthura Oryxes. The teams of other foreign players will be announced soon.
